Decluttering
Decluttering involves getting rid of unnecessary and unused items.
When I decluttered my wardrobe, I was able to see what clothes inspired confidence in me and those that were not suitable.
I had outgrown some of the clothes as they did not suit my current lifestyle. After decluttering, I have lesser decisions to make and only a few but the best in my wardrobe.
Every lady loves and has a different style and fit.
When I started building my wardrobe, I figured out that my style was elegant and feminine.
So I removed clothes that were not feminine( I had to say goodbye to all my jeans) and started replacing them with flowing skirts and dresses in my current size.
While selecting wardrobe statement pieces, ask yourself if that cute outfit on sale is your style and fit before owning it.
Colours
Like Style, each lady has different colours that suit them best.
I took a colour analysis online and started building on that colour palette for what makes me looks great(I have a Deep winter colour palette!!).
From that colour palette, I chose feminine pastel colours like blue & pink for casual and classy neutrals like ivory, reds and blacks for formal occasions.
Quality
Quality is all about fabric and garment construction.
On researching, I observed that you need top-grade fabrics and construction for it to be called High-Quality. To check if the garment is high-quality, check if the stitches are well-hidden and sturdy.
Good quality garments avoid having large logos and High-end brands are usually discreet and look timeless.
High-quality fabrics are usually linen, 100% cotton, silk, velvet, wool, cashmere, leather, and flannel. The cheap fabrics are composed of synthetic materials like polyester, rayon and nylon.
Building a perfect wardrobe takes lots of time and patience.
To do so, I resisted the urge to build it within a few weeks. I keep a plan on what outfits I want and browse online to save my preferences. When a sale comes up, I get my favourite pieces and grow my wardrobe.
I am still in the process of building my wardrobe. Happy Wardrobe building!
Lots of Love,
Deepika
